Hi, I am Karin. I am the owner and founder of the eco-hotel MARCEL in Buenos Aires. I am Belgian and live in Buenos Aires where they call me LA GABEL, the lunfardo word for BELGA. I recently started this blog to “Blog for a Better World”. I had and luckily still have the chance to travel extensively within my adopted country Argentina and abroad. I also welcome people from all over the world, first in my bed & breakfast ‘Phileas Fogg’ in Brussels, and now in my boutique hotel Marcel in Buenos Aires. We all consume, waste tons of plastic bags, leave metal cans or plastic bottles behind us, travel by plane to reach our destinations. We fall for cheap things ‘made in China’, most of them made of plastic. We wear cotton or nylon clothes and leather or plastic shoes… Waste is what I see a lot when I clean the rooms after my guests check out. I do not mean to criticize but hope to raise awareness. Life can be as good, as fulfilling, as nice and rich when taking care of our planet. That taking care starts with one self. It lies in simple things, gestures, acts.
